SHA-1 hash calculator
SHA-1 produces a 160-bit (20-byte) hash value.
What is SHA-1?
SHA stands for „Secure Hash Algorithm“. Its one of the many cryptographic hash functions. This algorithm generates a 160-bit hash based on the same principles as MD4 and MD5 hash functions. SHA-1 was used in security applications, protocols and in distributed revision control systems. The purpose of use was to identify revisions and to detect data corruption. In 2005 security weakness were deteced in this algorithm. So the stronger algorithm was released – SHA2 (SHA-256 hash function is a member of this functions family).
This SHA-1 online generator tool lets you easily generate hashes.
